This ArtsUCL season brings such a huge range of shows, cultures and experiences into the forefront of the Arts offering at UCL. It’s super exciting to see what everyone’s been working on, and I can’t to watch it all come to life on stage! Ben Francis, Arts Officer

First up: Richard II

Richard’s rule is one of eyes and cameras. Incompetent and unchallenged, he governs a tyrannical surveillance state, leaving the nation in social and ecological disrepair.

However, as rebellion begins to germinate, disrepair turns into political meltdown, testing the strength of Richard’s leadership. Shakespeare’s Renaissance work centred on a medieval king provides a shockingly modern examination of unchecked power: how it erodes both our morality and our environment. Is change possible when the system is already broken?

Other Highlights

Rhapsody – 5-7 February

UCL Live Music Society invites you to their 12th annual Bloomsbury Theatre production, Rhapsody 2026. Winning multiple Best Bloomsbury Production awards, Rhapsody promises to be a music concert like no other. The show brings together an exceptional collective of musicians for an exciting evening of spectacle, sound, and showmanship.

Showcasing numbers from Pink Floyd and Lana Del Rey to Daft Punk and the Jackson 5, there's sure to be a favourite in the setlist no matter your music taste. Boasting a huge cast of almost 100 across 20 bands, Rhapsody is ambitious, grand in scale, and one of the most memorable nights of the year.

Takhta: MNight – 20-21 February

Experience UCL Malaysian Society’s Takhta: MNight 2026, a mesmerizing musical celebrating Malaysian culture, with an original story and original music.

The people of Melaka have risen. They’re tired of a Sultan who’s controlled them for too long. But when a new leader takes the throne, they’re forced to confront what Melaka truly means to them. Takhta is an original musical about power, ambition, and what it means to fight for your home, all told with a unique Malaysian flair.

Spamalot – 26-28 February

Get ready to laugh out loud with Spamalot, the Tony Award-winning musical that brings the hilarity of Monty Python and the Holy Grail to the stage!

Featuring cows, killer rabbits, incompetent knights, and French taunters, follow King Arthur and his oddball knights on an unforgettable quest for the Holy Grail. Spamalot is a musical experience like no other, filled to the brim with outrageous humour, catchy songs, and hilarious characters. Don’t miss your chance to experience this riotous show – it's a knight’s tale full of comedy gold!

Looking for more?

If you're looking for even more incredible shows from our student community, we've got you covered. Taking place in our Studio Theatre this term are:

  • Billy & Co, 26-28 January - an absurd, fragmentary journey through the Writer’s inner world, where twelve characters, some loud, some nearly silent, use language, imagination, and chaos to explore connection, meaning, and the shifting nature of self.
  • Goudafellas, 2-4 February - Through the power of friendship and terrible New Yorker impressions, the UCL Graters Comedy Entertainment brings you Goudafellas.
  • ART, 23-25 February - In this caustically hilarious Tony and Olivier Award-winning play, a debate over a modern painting quickly turns into a battle royale of egos, loyalties and long-buried grievances.
