Micah Gerstner

I like editing. I like managing. I think I'd be pretty good at putting both together! As your managing editor, you can expect that the administrative side of the society is taken care of. I'll make sure things run smoothly!

I'm well suited to this position as former editor-in-chief for my high school newspaper. I also curated newsletters for the LGBTQ+ Network and helped with internal Union Comms.

Madina Amiraslanova

Hi everyone!

My name is Madina Amiraslanova, I'm a first-year Cancer Biomedicine student and I would like to apply to be the managing editor.

I have loved being involved in society as the first-year representative and would like to further this by contributing to the magazine's role in making science an enjoyable pursuit both through enabling members to express their passion for a specific field through writing and inspiring a fascination with a wide range of science topics through carefully-crafted pieces.

As the project leader for the UCL Cancer Care Writing project, I oversaw a group of writers ensuring high academic quality, and an engaging and persuasive writing style of articles aimed at increasing cancer awareness. This experience alongside being a writer for the Oxford Personalised Medicine magazine, has allowed me to refine my writing and pick up strategies, and develop an eye for an effective scientific writing style that is comprehensive and thought-provoking to satisfy the readers' yearning for a deep scientific understanding, and yet accessible and enjoyable for an audience with a wide range of backgrounds. I would love to help publish scientific pieces that are insightful, engaging, and with sufficient scientific rigor to stimulate reflection but an elegant touch of simplicity and directness.

I know how rewarding and special it can be to write about a scientific area one is truly passionate about and I would love to help Sci Mag writers do the same!

Adrija Mazumdar

I am a 2nd-year Chemistry student who is very enthusiastic about all STEM fields and creating articles on them. I have experience in editing science articles from when I was the writer and sub-editor of Enigma Science Magazine back at school. I can communicate complex information in a simple, concise, and effective manner to an audience. I have edited articles based on topics across the STEM field. I have also made posters on STEM topics, during both my undergraduate course and being the vice chair of Girls in STEM at school.
