Political Risk and Intelligence Society: Treasurer

Dear UCL PRIS Members,

I am Yiven (Louis) Zhu, studying Politics of Science and Technology. My academic foundation, combined with my passion for real-world financial skills developed through professional experiences, equips me to adeptly manage our society’s finances. If elected as treasurer, my agenda for next year is:

1. Strategic Financial Management: Applying quantitative skills, ensuring meticulous management of our funds. My direct involvement in budgeting and overseeing substantial financial resources prepares me to execute our society’s budget with precision and accountability.
2. Expand Funding Sources: I aim to secure additional grants and sponsorships by utilising my professional network. This will enhance our society's financial health, allowing us to subsidise more student participation in key events, thus broadening our reach.
3. Transparent Financial Practices: I will introduce a clear, detailed financial reporting system that reflects all transactions and budget adjustments in real time. This transparency will build trust and facilitate more informed decision-making within our society.

Drawing on my internships at PwC, PIMCO, and Moody’s, where I deepened my understanding of financial stewardship and strategic investment, I am prepared to lead our financial strategy with rigour and insight.

I look forward to applying these professional experiences to strengthen financial resilience and expand our society’s activities.
