Daria Baranska

Witam! My name is Daria and I would like to run for treasurer for the next academic year for my favourite society. I'm currently a first year student at SSEES studying Economics and business with Eastern European Studies. I was born in Poland, but I have spent most of my life living in the UK, I think that this society gives a great opportunity to celebrate our Polish culture, knowing this, I would like to use my experience to make a contribution to our society. I look forward to managing the society's finances, and playing an active role in the committee to continue creating a vibrant and engaging society for everyone. I believe that together we are all up for another year of great events filled with our positive, Polish energy!

Kasia Izabela Z. Kramer

Witam wszystkich Polaków i przyjaciół Polski,

I'm Kasia Kramer and I'm standing for PolSoc Treasurer. I was born and raised in London, but I am descended from a [confusing] Polish family line. Due to my Grandfathers' exile from Poland by the Soviets, the Red Cross and my parents weaved a confusing cultural story that I grew up with. Upon my Grandfather's exile in 1945, we lost contact with those who remained believing them to have perished in the war until reunification in 2015. Due to this, I was raised with a dual cultural upbringing. As a result of this,I came to UCL and SSEES to learn Polish, and to immerse myself with Polish culture via my degree at SSEES, and membership in PolSoc.

My central motivation as Treasurer is to strengthen ties with diaspora Poles such as myself at UCL. As Treasurer, I would seek to improve PolSoc's outreach to diaspora Poles through the financing of an outreach campaign and the financing of events at British-Polish cultural spaces, such as the POSK. As a committee member for SSEES Society, I retain the connections with Central and Eastern European national societies. This enhances my ability to execute and finance formal events in tandem with other national societies, such as Lithuanian, Hungarian or Ukrainian Societies.

My Grandfather's exile from the country he fought for is what motivates my application for this committee position at PolSoc, as I wish to continue promotion of Polish culture and create spaces for Poles abroad.
