India Deans-Smith

Hello, my name is India, and I’m a fifth-year medical student deeply committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within the technology sector. As the Diversity and Inclusion Executive of the Medtech Society, I've enjoyed organizing the inaugural diversity conference at UCL Medtech. This upcoming academic year, I look forward to planning more events and establishing new partnerships with external organizations.

My leadership skills were honed through a two-year presidency at UCL Sexpression and involvement with "Code First Girls." These roles provided deep insights into the operations of student societies and underscored the importance of collaboration for achieving innovative outcomes. I aim to amplify the voices of underrepresented groups, ensuring our events reflect diverse perspectives and foster an inclusive environment.

I also plan to enhance our society's connections with the industry by increasing sponsorship and mentorship opportunities from external MedTech companies, thereby expanding our members' industry exposure and experience. Additionally, I am passionate about "FemTech" and intend to develop a subsection within the society for like-minded individuals to network, share ideas, and build professional relationships. I am eager to contribute to the society's success and excited about the opportunities the next year will bring.

Thank you!
