Alexandra Aung

Hi everyone!

Would love to join the committee again this year, I know I didn’t get to do much because my placement year was much more chaotic than anticipated but I hope to do more with the committee next year and plan some more fun events!

Ann-Marie Loureiro

I first attended a knitsoc event during a Student Support and Welfare knitting workshop, and I found it to be a good way to talk to new people and learn a new skill. I think this is important during a student's time in university as it can get quite lonely and having events that are easy-going and can act as conversation starters, can be beneficial to managing mental health. More events that invite people to join the society and encourage members to partake, in focusing on strengthening their mental health should be planned. If I was to be nominated for the role this is what I would focus on, by creating strong bonds between members to speak up about mental health either at university or at home.

Noelle Lam

Hey everyone! I'm Noelle, and I'm absolutely thrilled to nominate myself as the welfare officer of our beloved Knitting Society!

My dedication to building a welcoming and friendly community is as strong as my passion for these crafts. I'd love to work closely with the committee to organize a variety of engaging events, such as yarn-swapping and themed crocheting challenges (I've got some film-themed ideas brewing...), to cultivate a space where knitters and crocheters of all levels can connect. Ensuring every member feels valued and supported, regardless of their crafting experience, is a big priority for me, and I'm all about promoting inclusivity and understanding. Moreover, I'm super passionate about mental health and well-being (I'm a Psychology student:), so I'm visioning our society to serve as a chill escape from the hustle of university life - a place where we can all unwind, find joy, and bond over our shared passion for knitting and crocheting.

I'm eager to dive in and help make our society a cozy, joyful, and tightly-KNIT community🧶
