Amelia Jean-Marie Meade

As your History Society welfare officer, I want to be the person you can turn to in all situations . I am be up for a cute chat over coffee, or just a word of encouragement or advice! My experience as a secondary carer and nanny has taught me a great deal about empathy, reliability, and flexibility.

More than anything, I want the UCL History department to be a safe space for all- whether historian or not. I am committed to making a more inclusive environment for those of use who are maybe more introverted, by running more sober, laidback events. Also, fornightly socials for each year group to help build a sense of belonging that outlives the infamous Approaching History Lectures!

As well as this, I want to focus on improving connections with other departments which is why I will be pushing for more collaborations with other demographic-based student groups, as well as other departmental societies to widen the scope of our community. Also, I’d love to start a system which facilitates easier communication between year groups which would be super helpful for sharing general tips as wella as study + exams advice.

As you can see, I have big aspirations for this year and absolutly ned your help to make thse a reality. I am a huge advocate for collaboation, so if you see me around campus or even on social media, feel free to share your suggestions or ideas!!
