Caleb Tan

As a creative involved in ArtsUCL for the past two years, I hope to be part of the UCL Film & TV Society committee to create diverse opportunities and foster new connections with film & tv folks within the society and beyond.

In filmsoc, I have attended numerous workshops, wrote film reviews for the blog, and am currently taking on the role of Financial Director for FOMI 2024 (Get your tickets now!).

As secretary, I hope to streamline processes and improve communications within the committee and society, providing the latest updates on films, festivals, productions, screenings and workshops right to your mailbox via a regular newsletter with the journal team. I will also be all ears to listen to your feedback on anything we can do better.

As a committee member, I hope to push for funding and support for more passion projects, both film and tv. I'm personally preparing a student tv production (a student survival reality show!) which I hope could get more filmsoc members involved. I've previously created a reality show (watch here) and am inspired by film & tv societies in Durham and Cardiff to do a student tv production.

Outside of filmsoc, I write a plethora of fiction and non-fiction, including book reviews (@tnc_reads), murder mystery role playing games and articles on my blog and national newspaper. I also have experience organising events and working with big names and companies.

I am Caleb and I hope to meet you as the Secretary of FilmSoc next year!

Ella Ayres

I am standing for the position of secretary for the Film Society because I possess a deep passion for film, as well as being an advocate for clear communication, attention to detail, and organisation. I recognise the vital role an effective administration plays in a Society and I’m eager to contribute my skills to ensure our society operates with efficiency and transparency. As a secretary, I will aim firstly to improve communication among members and be available for any problems that may arise. My overall goal, however, is to foster a sense of cohesion and clarity within the Society, allowing for smooth coordination of events, activities and initiatives. I am committed and determined and would be excited to play a role in supporting the Film Society and its mission to foster a well-run and welcoming community of film enthusiasts.
