I am standing for the position of TD producer because I believe I have the organisational skills necessary to pull off such a large and involved project! I am going into my third year here at UCL and am so excited to hopefully give back to Dance Soc this year and help make it as welcoming and fun of a place as it has been for me these past two years. I have been dancing competitively for about 10 years now and have attended upwards of 30 dance competitions, which gives me a lot of experience understanding what works and what doesn't work both for dancers and for the audience. I want the next TD to be something that brings the London Unis together and gives us a space to showcase how talented we all are! As an international student, I have the organisational ability and financial literacy to manage as big of a production as TD is.

Looking forward to a successful and (hopefully) stress-free TranscenDance 2025!

Sky Lam

Hello!! I’m Sky and I enjoy doing hip-hop, commercial, contemporary, and especially locking. I have a lot of experience in dance society, choreographing for 24-hour show, freshers show and triple bill this year, and volunteering as a runner at TD. Here I took every team to the wings, allowing me to interact with dancers and giving me a massive sense of community. I would love to give back to DanceSoc by maintaining this inclusive environment TD has provided me, and adding my own innovations to it.

I am in a position to work well with a range of dance styles, as I am trained in both street and classical styles, as well as being a battle dancer, competing in RedBull DanceYourStyle, and Nike OwnTheFloor. This gives me insight on how different competitions work and the production behind the scenes, as well as giving me connections to other dance competitions which could potentially be integrated to TD.

If elected, I would expand the production team of TD by adding an assistant marketing director, alleviating the stress placed on the marketing director, and separating the roles of marketing and design, so one focuses more on the actual promotion another on the design of merch and social media posts.

Dancing is a huge passion to me, and it's extremely heartwarming to be ‘adopted’ and included in the final pep talk of different teams when the adrenaline is at a high. I would do my absolute best to bring this energy to both the competitors and spectators as TD producer.

Rosalie Scott

Hi everyone! I study anthropology and am currently finishing my year abroad in the Netherlands. I’ve missed dance society so much and absolutely cannot wait to be back!

One of my favourite aspects of dance is performance: whether I’m competing, have a huge audience, am watching the show, or am even just in front of a mirror. Transcendence should be no exception! I want TD to be a day we all look forward to, invite our friends to, and have the most fun ever.

Here’s how I plan to make that happen:

  • Ensure the judges represent a full variety of styles!!
  • Make sure everyone gets a chance to practise spacing on the stage
  • Schedule the day so the order of styles keeps everyone’s energetic focus
  • Be open to feedback (a collaborative decision on when TD is)
  • Advertise to get a supportive audience
  • Work with the comps coordinator to ensure we don’t meet all the same unis at different comps
  • Fun social atmosphere to fuel both friendship and competition

Aside from wanting TD to be a highlight of the dance soc year, I believe I have the skills and experience to make that happen.

  • 10 years of competition experience (at 30+ different competitions)
  • Experience organising events for 500+ people
  • Experience collaboratively producing a dance show
  • Leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Organised, artistic, and love planning
  • Not too competitive, but competitive enough :)
  • Minimal class hours (6/week in T1), so I have a lot of time for this!

Who doesn’t love the thrill of a dance competition?

So let’s make it more sensational by fusing it with a gameshow concept!

How will I do this?

Participation in dance competitions during school/uni as a performer, choreographer and even an audience member, I understand the different expectations for a competition. Inspired by Korean idol survival/game shows, I believe this fusion would provide a fresh twist to TD.

Some of my ideas include:

  • During breaks, provide mini games like random TikTok dance challenges or concept compatibility games.
  • For the dance cypher, each uni is randomly allocated into blue or red team. A dancer from each team can volunteer to become players and battle it out to a song.

I can meet the responsibilities of TD producer through my experiences:

  • Being part of the treasury for my school enterprise competition team gave me the awareness to manage and effectively allocate budgets.
  • Being a choreographer for my school competition team gave me the ability to communicate and effectively lead within a group scenario.
  • Being a sociable person, I enjoy connecting through passions of dance which will allow proactive communication with university dance societies.

Given my diverse perspectives and love for dance competitions, I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to produce a competition that unites/celebrates the various talents across universities.

If the above interests you, I would be more than grateful to be your next TD producer!
