Maia Dixit

I’m Maia and I’m in my 3rd year (currently on my year abroad!). I would love to re-join the committee next year as Intermediate Captain and I have lots of exciting ideas to share. I was on the committee last year as Beginners’ Captain, so I am familiar with the responsibilities and expectations involved in a captaincy role. Though I only started the sport that year, I represented the club in both softball and hardball matches, as well as playing in Varsity. Therefore, I know first-hand the transition between softball and hardball cricket and would love to work closely with the other captains to facilitate this as best as possible for members next year.

One of the main ways I plan to improve the Intermediate section of the club is by holding hardball cricket sessions aimed exclusively at people with this level of experience. I think this would be an easier transition into the challenges of hardball cricket for beginners, given the smaller group sizes and chance for more feedback, and I aim to be at as many sessions as possible to be a regular point of contact for new players.

I felt incredibly welcomed by the society last year, and I would love the opportunity to continue establishing that same inclusive atmosphere next year as Intermediate Captain. I believe my approachable nature would create a friendly and open atmosphere at trainings and socials, and I strive to work hard with the committee to continue increasing membership and maintaining a positive environment next year.
