Syrian Society: President

I would like to nominate myself, Nour, for President of the Syrian Society at UCL. As someone of Syrian heritage, born in Damascus and raised there until the age of seven, I carry a deep and personal connection to our culture. Growing up in the UK while staying closely rooted in my identity has given me a unique perspective and a strong desire to celebrate and preserve our traditions. I have always been passionate about building community, creating spaces where people feel welcome, and sharing the beauty of Syrian culture with others. If elected, I aim to organise meaningful and engaging events that highlight the richness of our heritage—from music and cuisine to history, art, and storytelling. My goal is to strengthen the society by fostering pride, connection, and understanding among all members, and to ensure that our cultural voice continues to be represented and celebrated.
