Adam Cleary (He/Him)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

🚨 I am already considered the effective Societies Officer by other Officers 🚨

Why?

I am your Societies Personality of the Year 🏆
I am currently serving as a Student Trustee
Last year I was a societies rep
This year I am an Arts Rep as well as a Welfare Rep
I have been attending the Union's democratic zones for over year
I have worked with Sabbs both last year and this year to make change happen
I have already passed a policy to remove officers who don't communicate with the Union
I hosted the artsUCL Megasocial between over 20 arts societies

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Push for revamping our digital infrastructure, I have already met with members of the Union's IT and Activities team and i'm going to continue pushing for a better system than these stupid forms

Fixing and finding Storage spaces, the Range is a mess and the exposed insulation is dangerous and I will be raising it to Welfare & Community Zone, and pushing for more lockers and more.

We can do more than WhatsApp messages and instagram posts - I want to provide more spaces around campus to advertise society events, be it with social spaces or poster boards.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I serve on 6 committees
    President of Volunteering
    Treasurer of Musical Theatre
    Treasurer of Sign Language
    Externals Officer of Stage Crew
    Social Secretary of Shakespeare
    Collaborations Officer of Taylor Swift

I am also working to start my own society

I attend events beyond that, and have connections far beyond
I know the ins and outs of running events, I know what makes a good one, and I want to support societies in putting them on.

I am already at work! I am pushing for more policies to increase transparency, and to make pedestrianisation around campus happen.

Jesse Ashdown (He/Him)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Experience:

  • Society President - Sci-Fi & Fantasy - we host LOADS of events; I know how it feels to not be supported by the Union.
  • I was the ONLY non-Union member at the most recent Acitivities Zone-
    • ERGO I'M THE ONLY NON UNION PERSON THAT WENT BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY CARED
    • sorry for caps

Skills

  • I'm good at forcing change
  • I'm on the ball and professional (enough)
  • I'm good at getting to the heart of an issue - I dont entertain crap.

Qualities

  • I have no shame and therefore have n0 qualms with asking difficult questions
  • I'm extremely critical, yet have no issue changing my mind
  • I'm very persistent
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
  1.  SocietiesUCLTM needs to be restructured. SocietiesUCLTM  has 200+ societies and one officer, whilst ArtsUCL and SportsUCL have an officer each despite only having 120~ societies combined.  THIS IS NOT FAIR. SocietiesUCLTM  should be split into InterestsUCL and CultureUCL.  That would enable all regular Societies to get the appropriate support they need.
  2. We need actual University-wide social events on the Yearly calendar. A few ideas I have are:
    1. Intra department competition - e.g Sciences Quiz
    2. UCL Matchmaking
    3. General Interests Fair
  3. Grants for society collaborations

I will achieve actual change.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Im applying for this role because I'm old, and bitter, and in my final year.  I truly care about societies at UCL, and want students to have what I did not - a student community. I'm not doing this for my CV; I have a job that I'm hopefully going to do after I graduate, which has NOTHING to do with this.

I'm sick and tired of nothing changing. I'm tired of the fact that general interest societies are disrespected, depsite making up the vast majority of societies in Societies UCL.

I'm EXTREMELY passionate about this.
