Your Role
Lead in developing and building a strong community of general interest societies. Working with the Activities and Engagement Officer, oversee all general interest societies in the Union and develop opportunities for students to pursue a rich range of interests at UCL.
Issues You May Work On
As a Student Officer, you will work closely with students and Sabbatical Officers. Issues may vary depending on student concern. However, previous Officers have worked on issues such as:
- Assisting societies in developing and facilitating their running by working with the Activities and Engagement Officer to increase funding and streamline administrative processes.
- Implementing digital brochures and on-campus displays to provide information about socieities to a broader range of students while being less wasteful.
- Working with the Sabbatical team to lobby UCL to provide additional meeting spaces and funding to support societies.
Meetings You Will Attend
- Activities Zone – Five meetings throughout the year.
Your Eligibility
Any continuing UCL student who is a member of a UCL society.
Time Required For Role
This is a part-time, unpaid position. You are expected to attend Activities Zone meetings and a range of additional events, approx. 15 hours per term. Job shares are welcome.

Welcome and Training:
The role is supported by a full programme of training, development and support to help build all of the skills and knowledge required and to support longer term personal development.
