Alasdair Fletcher

Hi, I’m Alasdair and I’m your interim trip sec - a role I have been in for the past month and a bit. In this role, I have begun planning the easter trip, and contributed to helping out with the winter trip and other miscellaneous snowsports tasks.

As your trip sec, I am looking forward to making our spring trip an affordable and inclusive experience for UCL students! This will include scoping out the cheapest location not just on ticket price, but also on cost of food, drink, etc. while we are out there. Then, I will liaise with trip organising companies, and other snowsports committees to negotiate the best possible deal for our club. Furthermore, I will continue working with the captains to get more beginners skiing on dryslope here in the UK to broaden our reach for people to come on trip.

In order to make the trip inclusive, I will enable anonymous reporting in the unfortunate case of people being uncomfortable, and leverage committee and NUCO reps to work together to do room rounds and make every trip-goer a part of our society. By doing this, we will likely see an influx of social and team members from trip! Making these people feel welcomed from day 1 is critical.

My experience as interim, combined with being ski captain last year, significant exposure I have had in the ski industry, and my experience working with the union and all it does so well make me an excellent candidate for the role, and I look forward to organising one of our best trips yet!
