Simon Pryor (he/him)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My ambition is help our societies become the leading source of social, cultural and hobby-oriented life at UCL that they are destined to be.

In particular, I aim to push changes that allow societies to become ever more inclusive. This includes:

  • Encouraging UCL East and School of Management Events, by setting up a separate What’s On calendar for those campuses, and helping promote those events in communal spaces.
  • Co-operating with network leaders to help societies better accommodate their communities.
  • Facilitating easy collaboration between societies, and between societies, clubs and networks.
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I am currently serving as Treasurer for a hobby-based society, and have taken on many tasks in a small committee, which has built both my experience as a leader and a team player.

I have maintained several full-time jobs in the past, and have experience of studying while working, splitting responsibilities while managing time effectively.

I empathize with the experience of society members, having been a member of a broad range of societies.

Furthermore, as a mature and neurodivergent student I understand the importance of representing the concerns of minority and disadvantaged students.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Students should vote for someone who takes their leadership responsibilities seriously, who endeavors to deliver on whatever mandate they are given.

They should vote for someone who cares about making our societies the best they can be for all our students, of all cultures, genders and ages, whether they be attending Bloomsbury, UCL East or Canary Wharf, undergrad or postgrad, commuting or living on-site and studying part-time or full-time.

They should vote for someone who knows and understands societies and will work tirelessly to make them even better.

Jasmine Gao (She/her)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My goal is to reduce the information gap and enable every student, especially freshmen like me, to enjoy the societies without any barriers. I've found many students remain hesitant to join societies, still settling in. I can approach the situation through guiding them to obtain information more efficiently, equally and friendly, and I will frequently participate in various activities, to collect more trivial problems and bring them up at the meetings to promote solutions, ensuring that the policies we vote for in the Activities Zone truly represent the needs of the majority of students.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

My academic schedule allows me to devote sufficient time and energy, which means I can fully undertake the position with great efficiency, ensuring that the work progresses on schedule.Since childhood, I have accumulated some experience in giving speeches under the national flag, so I can effectively represent the collective opinions and convey them to the decision-makers.In addition, I am good at observing and understanding others' emotions, and am accustomed to paying attention to the needs and feelings of other people, which helps to identify problems in time and promote team collaboration.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Voting for me is choosing a true listener, rather than just a representative. I am approachable, responsible and highly value everyone's ideas.I am also a person full of enthusiasm for life and hoping to share that spirit with everyone I meet. As an international student, I am committed to championing the needs of our diverse community. With my experience of quickly adapting and already integrating into student life at UCL, I am capable of guiding and assisting those who haven't yet adapted, helping everyone find a sense of belonging, and ensuring voices are clearly heard and taken seriously.

Sree Cavuturi (she/her)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Beyond voting for me as your Societies Rep, please have a look my Student Trustee nomination &  vote for Sree to see more of what I hope to achieve in the Union overall.

As a Societies Rep, I aim for:

Simplify funding processes, reduce bureaucracy, and make criteria clear and accessible for all societies.

Strengthen communication between societies and the Union, ensuring student voices are heard.

Embed sustainable practices across societies, support smaller and newer groups,  so every society has the tools to thrive and make a positive impact.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Over 2 years serving in the Activities Zone as Societies Rep and Officer, pushing for efficient funding systems, and sustainable sponsorships.

Experience on funding panels as Societies Officer. I understand how to draft clear and accessible funding criteria for all societies, ensuring a fair chance for all.

Actively opposed the Shell sponsorship of Union previous year. Sustainability isn't optional & I continue to stand by it.

Experienced as a committee member across multiple societies,  I recognise where student voices get lost in translation - I will make sure they’re heard.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Good ideas shouldn't be lost in bureaucracy. I always go an extra mile to push for accessible, transparent policies.

Faster reimbursements so societies get their funds when they need them.

I'll amplify sustainable practices across societies to embed them in all SU spaces.

If elected as a Societies Rep, I'm here to constantly refine policies and represent student voices effectively.

Beyond this, I ask for your vote for my Student Trustee nomination. With your support, I can make an even bigger impact across the Union, both in the Activities Zone and the Executive Body.
