Candidates

Aleks Sukic (He/Him)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I’m Aleks, a current Civil Engineering Student Rep and Senior Mentor, so I know how meetings run and what actually helps students. I listen first: I run quick polls, hold regular drop-ins and gather honest feedback. I’m approachable, organised and pragmatic, I turn problems into clear, realistic asks for staff and follow up until students see practical improvements. I’ll make sure your voice is heard and acted on.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I’ve already delivered changes as Civil Engineering Student Rep, standardised feedback, clearer deadlines and fairer group-work. If elected I’ll scale these across the Faculty with simple feedback templates, transparent rubrics showing mark breakdowns, centralised deadline guidance and better tools for tracking group contributions. I’ll set short-term targets, share progress updates, and keep asking students for quick feedback so changes actually help.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Vote for me because I listen, act and follow through. As Student Rep and Senior Mentor I’ve turned student concerns into real fixes, faster feedback, fairer assessments and clearer communication. I’m approachable (regular drop-ins and short anonymous polls), pragmatic (small changes that cut stress) and accountable (I’ll publish short meeting notes and progress updates). I’ll use your feedback to prioritise what matters most to students.

Brian Au (He/Him)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Catalyst for Collaborative Feedback

  •  Design Director in award-winning student startup ZESTER, unifying 23 other members across departments to gather feedback in design process of an SDG card game. This ensures I proactively seek feedback from a diverse range of engineering students.

Authenticity

  • Brutal IB Maths/Physics taught me honest communication (not afraid to be wrong) — crucial in authentically representing the faculty.

Results Orientated

  1. CIVSOC BRIDGEBUILDING WIN
  2. ZESTER wins BOTH JA Company of the Year Award in 2024 Hong Kong and in the 2025 Regional Asia Pacific round
  3. IMC Champion 2024

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Transparent communication between students and faculty

As a first year, I experience the student faculty disconnection firsthand. EXAGERRATED EXAMPLE:  renovating portico disrupted the graduation of class of 2025 and displaced events to UCL East etc. This Inspired me. I plan on surveying regularly to collect feedback from students across the faculty, then representing them in Faculty Education Committee to bring improvements in teaching and resources. I will also push for clearer onboarding for first years which I relate to to enhance educational provision in the engineering faculty as a whole.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

To all my ENGINEERING comrades: The next few battles will be very TUFF no matter what. But TRUSS me... (i do civil engineering), the ONLY thing ill ALLOW get on top of us is more bricks — just like how ill prioritise YOUR student voice + YOUR feedback to the absolute MAX to REINFORCE your learning experience and resources. I love engineering, I love UCL, and I LOVE feedback and criticism no matter constructive/DE-structive... even if it hurts a little but its ok because architects hurt more. SO, if you want a student rep who LISTENS and TAKES ACTION, vote for me and ill stop making 6-7 jokes.

Christal Chung
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As Faculty Representative, I hope to strengthen communication between students and staff, ensuring that every engineering student’s academic experience is heard, valued, and continually improved. I want to represent the diverse voices within our faculty by actively seeking feedback from Course and Departmental Reps and raising their ideas in committee discussions. My goal is to promote collaboration, transparency, and student involvement in shaping our learning environment. I also hope to enhance awareness of available resources, ensuring that all students feel supported by the faculty.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I bring strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills from my experience in student council and Girl Guides, where I planned events, coordinated teams, and represented others’ ideas. These roles taught me to listen actively, collaborate effectively, and lead with fairness. As a first-year student, I understand the challenges of adapting to university life and want to make that experience smoother for others. I’m proactive, approachable, and passionate about improving the student experience by ensuring feedback is heard and positive changes are shared across our community.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I’m committed to being a strong, approachable, and reliable voice for all engineering undergraduates. I care deeply about improving communication between students and faculty and ensuring that every student’s perspective is represented fairly. My background in leadership and teamwork has equipped me to advocate confidently while working collaboratively with staff to create meaningful change. As Faculty Representative, I’ll work hard to strengthen our sense of community and help make the Faculty of Engineering an even better place to learn and grow.

Aiden Li

I bring strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills developed through research, teaching, and collaboration across different schools and academic settings. Having studied and worked in both technical and interdisciplinary environments, I’m skilled at uniting diverse perspectives and driving teamwork. My experience as a teaching assistant and project lead has strengthened my ability to listen, mediate, and turn feedback into action. I approach challenges with initiative, empathy, and a commitment to representing students’ voices effectively and constructively.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I aim to make student feedback lead to real and visible improvements. I will introduce a clear action-tracking process and termly updates to ensure accountability, while faster feedback turnaround, and fairer access to learning resources. I plan to hold open forums and in-person hours to keep communication active between students and staff. Drawing on my multicultural background and experience collaborating across Europe, Asia, and North America, I will represent diverse perspectives effectively and use practical, data-driven methods to identify key issues and drive meaningful change.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I believe my multicultural background and global academic experience will help me represent the diverse voices within our department. Having studied and collaborated across Europe, Asia, and North America, I understand how cultural perspectives shape learning and communication. I aim to build an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported, regardless of background. By promoting open dialogue and mutual understanding, I will strengthen the sense of community and ensure that all voices contribute meaningfully to departmental decisions.

Nikol Szoke (She/Her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I will bring experience, empathy, and determination. As a former Class Rep, I know how to turn feedback into meaningful action, working with staff to reschedule an exam and organising extra revision sessions that helped my cohort succeed. I understand how challenging it can be to navigate demanding modules and new systems within the Engineering Faculty. Therefore, my goal is to represent and uplift our entire faculty, ensuring that no student feels unheard or left behind, that every concern, big or small, leads to action. I will not stop until we achieve the positive outcomes we all deserve.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If elected, I aim to ensure every Engineering student feels heard, supported and represented. I will strengthen communication between students and staff so feedback leads to real change. I want to advocate for fairer assessment scheduling, accessible revision resources and clearer module structures. Above all, I will create an environment where students (regardless of background, pathway, or year) feel confident to raise their concerns, trusting that I’ll work tirelessly with fairness, compassion and determination to improve their student experience. Your experience. Your voice. Our change.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Students should vote for me because I care about making real, practical changes that actually help students. I focus on finding the reasons behind problems, not just the surface issues and working with staff to create fair, transparent solutions that benefit everyone. I believe in balancing high academic standards with genuine support for students’ well-being. I’ll always be approachable, quick to act and committed to making sure progress isn’t just promised, it’s delivered.

I want us all, from first to last year, to graduate not only with degrees, but with pride and an amazing experience.

Hera Choi
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I pick up systems quickly and spot problems, so no one has to mess around in the dark. I’ve always been good at digging for information and sharing it, from compiling a scattered exam timetable in Year 7 to sharing photos of lecture whiteboards today.

I've worked across departments for drama productions, so I know how to bring different perspectives together and spot patterns in issues across our departments.

I can run surveys and write clear, useful updates - emails from me would be worth the read! I like making people feel heard and turning feedback into something that works better.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Sometimes people seem way ahead just because the right info never reached everyone else. I want to fix that by improving how information flows across the faculty, so it’s accessible and no one feels lost. I’ll make sure concerns reach where they can actually be resolved - not bounced between offices - and improve small things, like making Moodle navigation more intuitive.

I know it can be hard to raise issues under pressure to seem perfect. I want to encourage us to fail loudly - to voice what isn’t working, for example when departments’ support or contact hours don’t match student needs.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I’m a Computer Scientist obsessed with optimisation problems and tired of confusion being normal. I want everyone in the Engineering faculty to feel included and confident that their thoughts matter and their voice makes an impact. I’ll be a flashlight for potholes (like “How long is the video?”  asked ten times, or “What do we actually do in lab classes?”) and report them. I’ll be easy to reach out to, or I’ll reach out to you. I’ll help spot issues and make your courses run smoother. As engineers, we’re meant to be all about efficiency, so let's make sure our faculty systems do too.

Ruiqi Zou (He/Him)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I bring strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. I led my school’s science fair research group, earning an “Excellence” rating and a special award, which strengthened my ability to organise, delegate, and motivate others toward a shared goal. Regular participation in sports has taught me collaboration, discipline, and perseverance under pressure. Through one-to-one peer tutoring, I developed active listening, empathy, and patience—qualities that help me connect with others and build a supportive environment.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

In this role, I hope to create a welcoming and supportive environment where every student feels heard, included, and valued. I want to promote open and honest conversations about wellbeing and mental health, helping reduce stigma and ensuring students know what support is available. I also hope to work collaboratively with staff and peers to introduce new initiatives that build community, encourage balance between academic and personal life, and celebrate diversity. My goal is to make student wellbeing a visible, everyday priority across campus life.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Students should vote for me because I am genuinely committed to creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and heard. I’ve demonstrated leadership by coordinating my school’s science fair team, as well as teamwork through sports and peer mentoring. I will bring this same enthusiasm, empathy, and reliability to the role. I’m approachable, open-minded, and proactive about listening to others’ experiences and turning ideas into meaningful action that strengthens our community and promotes wellbeing for all students.

Sihas Jayasuriya
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

During my time as a Course Representative, I have shown that I can turn student feedback into action. By listening to concerns, and communicating with staff, I organised extra revision sessions, obtained more detailed coursework feedback, recovered missing lecture recordings, and resolved timetable issues. All of this was possible as I was persistent for change, until my cohort saw improvements. I bring determination, clear communication, and collaboration.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If elected, I will make sure that student voices shape the decisions of the faculty by representing your academic interests through committees and communications with the course reps. I want to ensure consistent feedback, fair deadlines and better resources. Beyond academics, I will continue to push for a change that I initiated as a Course Representative - to introduce microwaves for engineering students. With the Engineering Faculty being the academic home to over 4000 students as of 2024-25, it is only rational for our faculty to have accessible microwaves within our buildings.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

With a proven track record of hearing out the student voice, and acting on it promptly, voting for me shows that you want the same results that I have shown to my department cohort. I will aim to maintain the same level of persistence and delivery, ensuring your concerns are always heard and resolved. Vote for Sihas, the only candidate campaigning equally for your education, and your student experience.

Nil Ertok (She/her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I will bring adaptability, patience, and a genuine passion for self-development. I also bring research experience during a project internship at Stanford, I worked on developing a device, which gave me hands-on skills in problem-solving, innovation, and teamwork. This experience taught me not only how to conduct research but also how important it is to share knowledge and support others in their own projects. I believe I can contribute by helping my peers with research, encouraging collaboration, and bringin practical solutions to challenges we face as engineering students.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If I’m elected, I hope to make our faculty a place where everyone feels supported and connected. I want to share what I’ve learned from my research and projects, help others grow, and create opportunities for collaboration and learning. I also want to bring fresh ideas, adapt to any challenges, and make sure we’re all able to enjoy and get the most out of our time in engineering together.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

“Imagine a faculty where ideas don’t just stay on paper  they actually take off.” That’s what I want to build. I wan to bring research experience and real problemsolving skills, and I love helping others turn their projects into reality. I’m adaptable and curious, so I can tackle unexpected challenges and find creative solutions. Beyond academics, I want to make our faculty a place where we connect, collaborate, and have fun while growing together. If you want someone who listens, acts, I’m ready to make it happen.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

id mainly wanna focus on careers tbf. cuz like springs and internship apps have been cooking me and i bet y'all situation no different

plus most career events give generic advice like think critically or learn continuously which can be applied to any role / company or end up turning into a therapy sesh about nerves and resillience

to solve this id lobby for UCL  to launch industry-specific courses.  Take IB for instance: we could have 1 week accounting, 1 week valuation with list of interview questions and a capstone proj at end (stock pitch etc).

welp wordcount running out. dm for more details.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

good question. tbf upto em. idc if no one votes for me. i mean i remain a demure nonchalant stoic tech bro either way sooooo.....

Bora Gok / Natsu (Nasha) Thontavıjıt
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Bora: bring experience as a student representative and regional committee member, where I proactively improved my community. For instance, after overhearing student complaints about bitter water, I took initiative to advocate for a solution, secured school board approval, and implemented water filters on all taps in just under 2 months, ensuring safe and clean drinking water.

By delegating aspects of this role with a peer in BSc Crime and Security Science, we ensure multidisciplinary reach and active collaboration beyond engineering, including social sciences, laws and brain sciences.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Being aware of the scarcity of aerospace-related opportunities, one of our main aims is to strengthen UCL’s aerospace sector-connections and unlocking more opportunities.

UCL’s theoretical education is strong, however training on practical skills is weaker compared to universities at the same level as UCL. we plan to work on strengthening this aspect.

We aim to organize community-building events to make sure our faculty feel more like a family. Moving from another continent for education, we know the challenges of leaving home. Therefore, I will work on fostering the same feeling of belonging

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Even now, we heard and listened to our seniors' problems and detected some possible things to work on. Being proactive is one of the things that we believe sets us apart. If we see anything that can be fixed or improved, we won’t wait for it to become a problem before working on it. You can reach out to us whenever you need or want. We will always be making sure to hear you out. Being at the end of just a single text, you can reach us whenever and wherever, even on weekends or late night (perks of being chronically online lol).

Yiran Liu
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

From high school to university, I’ve been a student leader focused on improving learning, teaching, and communication. If elected as Faculty Representative, I will:

My experience as a Student Representative has taught me how to turn feedback into real changes. I’ll push for fairness, inclusion, and teamwork to make our faculty a supportive and inspiring place for everyone.

Bruno Feng
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I believe I would make a strong faculty representative because I genuinely hope to improve the study experience of my peers and myself. I am a serious person who plans and treats everything carefully. I am also approachable in my major and willing to find practical solutions by communicating comfortably with both students and staff.  When I was in high school, I volunteered every year to help the freshers know the school, teachers, and academic system better, and now I want to help create an environment where feedback can lead to improvements in our academic life.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If I am elected, I am willing to spend my time, if possible, on strengthening the connection between students and the faculty by offering feedback from the students to the faculty. My goal is to help create a transparent environment where students are confident to share their suggestions on their academic experiences and lives. I will work on ways to communicate with the faculty about improving the courses according to students' suggestions and needs, so that they can provide the students with enough deep academic knowledge, professional training, and minimal stress.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Vote for me if you want a representative who genuinely stands up for improving the quality of our course and solving your issues. Whether you have any concerns about any courses we are having, or you have any academic interests that need support, I will always be approachable. I will build a bridge between the students and the faculty staff and work hard to turn your feedback into real change.  Together, we can make learning in our department more effective and make our faculty a place where everyone feels supported and proud to belong.
