What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
Transparency
With so much going on at UCL, students find it difficult to follow what's happening at higher SU levels. I would ensure transparent decision-making and open communication between myself, SU members, and SU executives.
Long-term Success/Enhanced Student Experience
Perhaps my most important role as a Student Trustee would be making each decision with its long-term impacts in mind. I'll strive to enact responsible policies focused on improving student life and increasing sustainability. This will ensure our reputation is upheld and we continue doing important work for all students.
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
Now in my fourth year at UCL, I have served on many society committees and crucially the SU Executive Committee. This involved working closely with Sab Officers and SU staff to make important decisions affecting students, like the referendum on the NUS teacher strike.
My various committee positions have developed skills relevant to Student Trustee. As a marketing officer, I learned the importance of transparency and communication with members. Being a year and faculty Rep taught me how to advocate on behalf of others. As a welfare officer, I make every decision with the vulnerable in mind.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.
Students should vote for me because I bring a wealth of experience and clear goals, with responsibility and integrity at the forefront of everything I do. I will be a voice for students and work closely with Student Trustees to ensure the SU's long-term success. I know from my SU roles how to advocate, be transparent, and most importantly, to collaborate with others. As a Student Trustee, I would continue my work to do all of this but with the big picture in mind, so that students in future enjoy the same benefits from the SU we have, but enhanced as a result of responsible decision-making.
