Deniz Cicek (He/him)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I feel confident in my abilities to successfully represent and advocate for the needs of our community because of my varied experiences and leadership responsibilities. I have developed my diplomatic and public speaking abilities as President of the MUN Club and Chair of the TIMUN Conference. I have always led with cooperation and clear communication. I have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills because of my work as the operations manager of an innovation competition. This enables me to handle obligations quickly and meticulously.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

As a Societies’ Rep at UCL, I aim to enhance the variety and quality of events and activities across all societies. In order to host larger-scale activities that unite students from many backgrounds, I wish to help societies have the funds and resources they need. Additionally, I’ll advocate for programs like panels, and joint training sessions that encourage the sharing of skills among societies. I want to lower administrative hurdles by supporting streamlined procedures for event planning and funding, which will free up societies to provide students with worthwhile, rewarding experiences.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Voting for me would be appropriate since I have a history of leadership, commitment, and a strong desire to help those around me. Whether I'm running a club or working for disaster relief, my motivation is always to make a significant impact on the community. Inspecting my high school’s student union for a whole academic year has also allowed me to realize how it is that union members are not always transparent and how they can be better in their attempts to help students. I'm determined to serve as a personable, trustworthy, and capable spokesperson for everyone.

Dilmeet Kapoor (She/Her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As a Wildhearts’ Global Youth Ambassador, I’ve led initiatives focused on diversity and inclusion, climate action, and delivering student support to 1000+ students during COVID lockdowns.

I've independently collaborated with charity managers to launch a Financial Education Scheme, raising awareness for financial literacy.

Created the Student Enrichment Initiative, independently delivering 200+ opportunities over 14 months, to help disadvantaged students.

This showcases that I can lead, advocate effectively, drive positive change, and contribute meaningfully as a Societies Rep for UCL students :)

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
  • Make joining societies easier for short and long-distance commuters- many can't attend events in the evenings, so opening up space for them to engage in student life around their schedule is really important!
  • Collaborations with National and International Universities to foster great relationships with larger-scale activities and events.
  • CREATING FORUMS for like-minded students to come together, start a new project, enter national competitions, or create a charity/business venture together.
  • Increase social spaces and facilities on campus
  • Raise affordability, so it's easier to join societies.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I understand the concerns that may prevent students from engaging in societies, whether it be financial affordability, commuting distance, fully-timetabled schedule, lack of social spaces or facilities, or any other issues that prevents students participating in the vast amount of activities UCL has to offer.

I am confident that I can advocate for changes to represent UCL students’ priorities, and implement changes to support YOU in having a great uni experience :)
