Election post
I am an energetic and pragmatic person, who is able to deal with responsibility while also having a good time. As a creative person, I look forward to being able to plan a range of socials which cater to everyone’s unique interests and passions.
I’ve been actively engaged in event organising and management in the past. I created the LGBTQ+ Society at my school, which offered academic talks and support networks for its members.
Also, as I’m the Drag Soc Social Secretary this year, I believe that holding both roles will allow more collaboration between various queer-oriented societies on campus.
If 10% of the world is LGBTQ+, there are at least 5,000 queer UCL students, all from different backgrounds and with different interests. I plan to organise a wide variety of events to cater to all sorts of different interests and identities and promote a strong, visible community spirit.
My ideas include:
- Workshop collabs with other societies, e.g. Drag, baking, musical theatre.
- TED Talk events where students can discuss their favourite topics.
- A Pride Ball!!! in the Summer
- Queer pub crawls and outings
- Trips to queer events around london e.g. art exhibitions, bookstores, cafés
And much much more.
I hope to bring energy and versatility to the role, providing useful and memorable experiences to LGBTQ+ people throughout this university. I hope I can utilise the role to ensure queer UCL students remember their time here, not just because they did a degree there, and spent 80+ hours a week cramming organic chemistry, case law or the rise and fall of Napoleon. Rather also because they found a community that supports and engages them, no matter their background, and provides long lasting friends and memories.
(also Paddy the Panda thinks you should vote for me, and his opinion is golden)
