What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Farida is currently the President of UCL Pharmacy Society, UCLSU's Student Trustee and Welfare Officer at UCLArabSoc after serving as President in 23/24. She served for two years as the Lead Departmental (Pharmacy) Rep.

Angela is currently the President of Armenian Society and Charity Lead of UCL Pharmacy Society. She has also served as Deputy Lead Rep 23/24 for Pharmacy.

These roles helped them master staff-student liaison, improve student welfare and collect reliable feedback. Having worked together on committee and departmental reps, they will make the most collaborative team for this role.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

We hope to foster a closer connection between all departments, ensuring students feel valued and closer.

This will be done by liasing with fellow department reps to plan networking and social events between departments, e.g. a Life Sciences Sports Day to get the communities closer while advocating TeamUCL

We hope to continue our so far successful ideology of bridging the gap between students and staff which we have done in our time as departmental reps.

With our experience in advocating change, persuasive communication and problem-solving, we hope to be a place of support for every student.

    internally with UCL staff and SU which allows us to
    easily highlight, discuss and negotiate any feedback in a timely manner.
  2. We have extensive experience with leadership and communication roles, allowing us to delve into this role confidently and ambitiously.
  3. Initiatives to not only connect departments within the faculties but also connect and support fellow academic reps to help them make a change.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

In the past, I volunteered as a retail assistant at a charity shop and as a Special needs teaching assistant. Through these, I have developed interpersonal and problem solving skills. I have also spent time raising funds for a cancer research charity where I learnt advocacy and negotiation skills, all of which are necessary in representing students who, like me, belong to the Life Sciences faculty.

Currently, I am the Modelling Coordinator at UCL MODO Fashion society which means I am honing my skills in administrative and interpersonal leadership, which are essential for making positive change.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My goal is to make sure every student in the life sciences faculty feels like they have a voice, an avenue to make their voice heard and overall a sense of belonging in the faculty. There are various ways to do this, the easiest being an anonymous social media account where students can express their thoughts and suggestions, in a regulated manner, which would eventually be communicated with academic staff.

Using a combination of skills I've earned over the years, I will be able to effectively make use of student's feedback to make real changes.

Alena Hanzenova & Sophia Kim (she/her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Alena, having been involved in student government during her high school years, developed strong communication and organisational skills. She is also completing a lab placement alongside her studies, demonstrating her insight into academia as well as her ability to take initiative.

Sophia is currently a committee member of two societies at UCL and served as an academic representative in her course last year, thus developing valuable insight into the structure of the Students' Union. Her involvement in various leadership roles at UCL strengthened her ability to acknowledge feedback and initiate improvement. 

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Our primary goal is to work closely with the faculty to continuously improve students' learning environment at UCL. We aim to create a transparent environment where all parties involved are made aware of various perspectives of an issue, hence minimising unnecessary misunderstanding and discontent.

We also aim to advocate for:

  • more workshops, career talks, and skill-building sessions tailored to students’ specific needs
  • stronger alumni network within the faculty, creating opportunities for current students to connect with graduates for mentorship, career advice, and networking

With Sophia’s experience in leadership roles and representation, and Alena’s background in student-led bodies and insight into academia, we are confident in our ability to foster a stronger sense of community between students and staff, and to promote student-led initiatives that encourage collaboration across departments.

We believe students academic interests should be the priority of any prestigious academic institution. As such we will ensure the student’s voice is heard and truly represented at the faculty level. We wish to drive meaningful improvement which can be felt by current and future students alike.

Kerem Isik & Anastasia Seitan (he/him she/her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Kerem has previously held posts twice at the UCL Student Union and Academic Board as a Life Sciences Faculty Rep and other student-led bodies where he developed his skills in administrative leadership, representation, and organisation, which are vital in making sure every issue and concern is seen, said and sorted. 

Anastasia has been a Course Representative twice, working alongside students and staff, also serving as an executive member of the Neuroscience Society, developing administrative skills and engaging in constructive debates on a journey to improve the student experience.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Our primary goal is to provide students with an easily accessible, simple and practical communication channel to voice their thoughts and concerns,  bridging the gap between academic staff and students.

With Kerem's expertise in representation and negotiation, and Anastasia’s experience as a student representative and team leader, we will use your feedback to advocate for positive change and strive to take immediate action to deliver tangible results to students.

We hope to set a new precedent for what communicating with the Faculty of Life Sciences should be like. As such, we will aspire to make sure it feels effortless, robust and reliable as we drive for change ‘behind the scenes’ and expand the trust in faculty representatives and academic staff alike. 

We have a proven track record of getting results and have shown the drive we feel to speak up and ask for more. We cultivated an extensive network within UCL, which allows us to push for relevant faculty reform and extend the boundaries of what a Faculty Rep role entails.

I am eager to apply for the Faculty Rep position to effectively represent my peers. I bring strong leadership, effective communication, and proactive engagement skills from my roles as Head of Events Coordination at AIESEC and Outreach Officer for the Connect.ed Society. My ability to foster collaboration and gather feedback ensures all voices are heard and valued. I am committed to enhancing the academic experience by actively seeking input and representing students' interests in committee meetings. I am enthusiastic about advocating for my peers and fostering a supportive community.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If elected as Faculty Representative, I aim to enhance student engagement and communication within the Faculty of Life Sciences. My goal is to create an environment where students feel empowered to share feedback, ensuring faculty receive valuable insights. I will facilitate forums for open dialogue to make administration aware of the challenges students face. Additionally, I plan to promote initiatives that support student well-being and academic success. Ultimately, I aspire to advocate for my peers and contribute to a positive educational experience.
