My previous role as Lead Undergraduate Representative at the Anthropology Department has equipped me with skills and knowledge I believe to be necessary for the role of Faculty Representative. Collecting, summarising, prioritising and presenting student feedback from the Course Reps at the SSCC meetings, which I co-chaired with the Head of Teaching, allowed me to further develop my leadership, time-management and problem-solving skills. I also acted as a mediator between students and staff, eliminating communication barriers and ensuring the highest standard of student satisfaction possible.
Firstly, I want to provide students of our Faculty with opportunities to build stronger relationships and enrich their social circle. I want to build a safe, inclusive community and make sure all our students have a sense of belonging, in response to the turbulent and uncertain global environment.
Secondly, I want to act as a tool for those who feel most underrepresented. Instead of shying away from uncomfortable realities, I wish to emphasise the voices of those who have felt let down or mistreated by the university.
I have been very involved in the workings of the Anthropology Department since the beginning of my studies in 2021. As Lead UG Rep, I have been involved in the process of ensuring the best possible experiences and education for students while building strong relationships with both fellow representatives and staff. I do not shy away from raising awkward questions or raising awareness about uncomfortable realities. And most importantly, I wish to create a truly safe and inclusive community for all students of our Faculty.
I offer valuable experience, leadership skills, empathy, advocacy, and a deep passion for our faculty. With an understanding of student needs, I'll actively work for positive change and foster a strong, inclusive academic community.
My experience in organizing events and representing student clubs has honed my communication and teamwork skills. I aim to listen actively, advocate for fellow students, and promote our faculty's vibrant academic environment.
If elected as the rep for Social and Historical Sciences, I aspire to amplify student voices, foster faculty-community engagement, improve academic resources, and enhance the overall student experience. In this role, I aim to create opportunities for student involvement, address concerns effectively, and promote a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
I bring experience, leadership, empathy, and a passion for positive change. I'll amplify student voices, promote inclusivity, and enhance our faculty's academic and social environment. Their vote can help create a better student experience!
I'm eager to use my four-year journey as a PPE student, including a Year Abroad, to make a positive impact on the student experience for those who come after me. My experience as a senior mentor at DebateMate has enhanced my skills in public speaking and advocacy, while my role as VP of UCLIS, one of UCL's largest societies, has honed my leadership, active listening, and collaborative abilities. This background equips me to understand and articulate the diverse needs and concerns of our student body, always keeping their best interests in mind.
My goal is to collaborate with both departmental student societies and departmental representatives to gain a holistic understanding of how we can enhance our faculty. I aim to foster a strong connection between the faculty and the student body, working together to drive improvements in the academic year. These improvements will be centered around enhancing student well-being, academic experiences, and promoting transparency and inclusivity within the faculty.
My experience as a PPE student with a Year Abroad and my dedication to enhancing the student experience has prepared me to understand and address the diverse needs and concerns of our student body. This, combined with my communication, advocacy, and leadership skills will enable me to foster a strong connection between the faculty and students, whilst advancing student concerns. Your vote for me is a vote for positive change and a student-centric approach to improving our academic environment.

My time as first year representative for my course had been especially rewarding. I really enjoyed collaborating with my peers and professors in shaping our academic journey and hope to bring the same optimism and experience to this role.
I don't believe fancy paragraphs of promises are convincing or trustworthy enough. I do not doubt my abilities, but I hope you vote who you want to vote for.
Studying PPE with Social Data Science at UCL has honed my interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding of diverse student needs. From founding a club that bridged theory with real-world politics and economics to my time at Teach for India NGO, where tutoring went beyond academics to understanding student aspirations, each experience has shaped my understanding of what it means to be truly engaged in education. As the VP of Rethinking Economics at UCL, I've also tackled curriculum gaps and advocated for more practical, diverse learning. I'm eager to channel this passion as your faculty rep.
- Assessment Transparency: Advocate for clear and transparent assessment guidelines, ensuring students fully understand evaluation criteria.
- Faculty Initiatives: Actively communicate the outstanding initiatives by our faculty and establish pathways for more students to get involved, ensuring they're active contributors to the faculty's growth.

Your voice and experiences matter to me—whether it's your academic concerns, health, or feeling a part of this faculty. Being adept at connecting with peers, I'm prepared to dedicate extra hours to genuinely understand our collective needs. It's not just about talking—it's about listening, acting, and ensuring our feedback drives faculty decisions. Meeting new people and learning from their journeys excites me. As your representative, I will strengthen student engagement and unity across SHS. Prioritizing our well-being, I'm determined to make each of us feel integral to our faculty's growth.
1. Enhance Educational Quality: I aim to actively contribute to the development of educational provision within our faculty (as I have done in the previous 2 years as NUS rep), working with all faculty representatives to ensure our academic programs meet the highest standards.
2. Student-Centered Initiatives: I will proactively seek out the opinions of students within our faculty. By understanding your needs and concerns, I will advocate for student-centered policies and improvements in our academic environment (thing which I've heard from the Diplomacy Society to Consulting and Finance).
3. Effective Representation: I will actively participate in all meetings, liaising with the Union to ensure that students' voices are heard at every level of decision-making process.
4. Transparency and Communication: I will maintain transparent and ongoing communication with students and other representatives. Regular updates, open forums, and feedback sessions will be key features of my approach.
Enhancing educational quality, advocating for student-centred initiatives, achieving effective representation and maintaining transparency and clear communication.
These are the pillars of my candidacy. If this resonates with you, vote Laura for Faculty Rep!
