Nell S V Wedgwood
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have been an active member of Pi Media throughout my time so far at UCL, as social media officer last year, and president this year. This has given me an insight into how student media societies are run and oragnised, and the support they need from the SU. My time on the committee has also provided me with experience in communication and mediation, allowing me to positively collaborate with other societies and staff within UCL and the SU. It has taught me the value of a community in societies, and as such the need to advocate for that.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I would like to create more opportunities for cohesion between student media societies: emphasizing the common goal of us all to be a part of presenting student interests and the student voice.

I understand first-hand the importance, but also the struggle of balancing extra-curricular activities with university work. As such I want to work to make student media feel more accessible (and a fun experience, as opposed to a heavy commitment). I would seek training opportunities for leaders and participants of societies. I also hope to improve communication links between societies and the SU.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Having enjoyed being active in student media at UCL already, I would love the opportunity to further engage with all student media societies, and give back the support and opportunities I have received. The crux of any media is communication, and that will be my priority: clear and regular communication. In addition, communication is inherently a two-way street; it's not just about me doing what I think is best and then telling you about it. I will listen and work with you to promote your needs and ideas.
