Kairan Mai
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have spent many years helping people in need, working as a volunteer English teacher, Chinese-English translator and in other voluntary positions, and speaking up for them. I have developed strong organisational, planning and execution skills during this time. At the same time, I have empathy for others' experiences and sufferings. With the same enthusiasm, confidence and abilities required, I am here to fight for the future of our University and our Faculty.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
  • Seek more systematic peer support and guidance for new students. For example, organise faculty orientation sessions at the start of the academic year and invite faculty seniors to share their experiences.
  • Provide academic and life guidance for students during the academic year, for instance, by recruiting seniors as volunteers to provide advice for students.
  • Establish a feedback platform and forum for students within the faculty, which can be about all aspects related to the experiences in class, academic research, daily life, further education, career paths, etc.
  • To be continued...
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I will endeavour to do what you want me to do.

Vote for me that fight for you. Vote for me for a brighter future.

My name is Yuanyuan Zhao and I am currently a postgraduate student in English Linguistics in Faculty of Arts and Humanities in UCL. I am an outgoing and energetic person, willing to try different new things and help people. Back in university, I used to be the president of English Salon Club, organizing various activities to increase English communication chances and enrich campus life and managing the operation of official account and creating and finishing the edition of encyclopedic item so that I am used to team work and experienced in communicating.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I will gather my fellow students' opinions and feedbacks about teaching in Faculty of Arts and Humanities and reflect them to professors to make a positive change in the Faculty. I will also build a harmonious relationship with my fellow students and encourage them to share their thoughts about the teaching in the Faculty.  Besides, I will update to my fellow students what work I have done to represent their concerns. Finally, I hope to become a bridge between students and professors so that they can have more effective and satisfying communications to promote better changes in the Faculty.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am an outgoing and energetic girl, hoping to make more friends with my fellow students. I am easy and friendly to talk and patient to listen to others' opinions. I will try my best to use my passion to warm them and make them trust me and communicate with me about the changes in teaching. Besides, I can express their concerns that they dare not to say to their professors. For Chinese students, I can talk with them more effectively since my mother tongue is Chinese.
