What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want to be able to initialise and assist campaigns that raise awareness to disabled students about the facilities available to them here at UCL, such as the SoRA & DSA, which have been such a huge help to me. I would like to put forward and support campaigns that ensure disabled students are fully represented and that all the necessary facilities are available to them both in a physical sense and a mental health one. Other than my own campaign ideas, I would also like to help, in any way I can, to ensure that other people's beneficial ideas are recognised and run as smoothly as possible.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As a type 1 diabetic, I have experience in what it's like to be a recently diagnosed disabled student with a condition whose support may not be immediately obvious to many. As such, I have become familiar with the process of seeking help as well as all the help UCL offers for people with my condition, so can aid others in easily finding this support and making the fullest use out of it. I have taken several leadership roles in the past, heading a Faraday challenge team and doing the Boys Brigade leadership course. I pride myself on being helpful, friendly and taking action.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I will take an active role in pushing campaigns that raise awareness of help available to its students and provide mental support to the widest range of students. I will critically analyse campaign ideas to ensure that they avoid breaching boundaries and to prevent potential offence to other communities or unfair advantages to ours, while still providing the help that is needed to make disabled students feel included and no different from any other student on campus. I can use my leadership skills & experience as a diabetic to guide the campaigns with an understanding of the community's needs.
