Hey yogis, I'm Claudia - 1st year BASc Arts and Sciences student and a member of this society since the very beginning! As a tennis player, yoga has genuinely changed how I perform and recover, so I know firsthand how transformative this community is, and I want more people to feel that.
I've spent the past 2 years consulting and creating content for an investor-backed British ed-tech startup on Instagram and TikTok, building real engagement with real results. I'm a self-proclaimed Canva addict with a background in photography, and I live on Pinterest (don't we all?) - so aesthetic direction and visual curation come naturally to me. I have a strong instinct for what looks good, what feels cohesive, and what makes people stop scrolling. I want to bring all of that here and grow an online presence that truly reflects how special this community is. If you believe this society deserves to be seen and celebrated, I'd love your vote! 🌿 :)
Having joined UCL this September, I had tried out some societies but never felt like I fit in or enjoyed the activities much. I challenged myself by joining Yoga Soc in January and have met so many lovely people, and yoga has helped my mental health immensely (especially since I've just been diagnosed with PMDD). I always leave the classes feeling happier and lighter than when I entered! I would really like to be more involved in the planning/management of the society because I'm very organised and a strong communicator, but I can be a bit shy and feel that this role would be a great way for me to meet other people involved in the society while building my confidence and social network.
I studied Graphic Design at GCSE and designed posters/tickets for school events such as prom, so I'm accustomed to using Canva and Photoshop. Aside from that, I am very creative, enjoy all forms of art and wrote my first essay at university on the benefits of digital and physical art for mental well-being. If I got the position, I would post regular mindfulness/affirmations, fun polls (i.e. what is your favourite pose) and more class/music suggestion boxes. For me, designing the social media posts for the society would be fulfilling and enjoyable, as well as building my confidence and friendships to hopefully run for a role with broader responsibilities in the future.
I would be happy to share some of my graphic design work if asked, and thank you for considering my application! :)
Hi everyone! I’m Pia, a first-year Astrophysics student, and I’m delighted to be running for Social Media Secretary.
I only started practising yoga and meditation this year, so I understand what current and prospective members look for in a society’s social media. As a complete beginner, I know how important it is for information to be clear, welcoming and easy to follow. Social media is often the first way people interact with a society, and I want ours to reflect the supportive and inclusive environment that makes our club so special.
If elected, I would create clear, aesthetic posts for weekly class schedules, social events and announcements, ensuring updates are shared promptly so members feel informed and organised. I’d also make our Instagram more interactive through polls, live updates, countdowns and “meet the committee” posts — especially before Freshers’ Week and the new academic year.
Having been an unsure fresher myself, I know it’s natural to have a mountain of questions. I would prioritise responding quickly and warmly, and I’d regularly seek feedback to ensure our social media continues to meet members’ needs.
Thank you for reading, and I hope to have your support in creating a social media presence as welcoming as our society.
