Hi! I’m Hayley (though most of you will know me as Jace), a first-year Anthropology student, and I’m running for the position of Project Manager. Yoga has been such a fulfilling part of my life - in terms of practising mindfulness, building strength and gratitude for my body, and having a space to unwind and enjoy movement. Being part of the Yoga & Meditation Club has been particularly valuable because of the structure of lessons and the amazing like-minded community.
I’m running for this role because after loving my first year in the club, I’d really love to give back by being part of the committee! As a Project Manager, my main role would involve spearheading the merchandise and retreat planning, and I think I have the necessary skills to get these done well. I naturally really like planning and events organisation - as a very Type A person, I would destress during my A Level year by planning my graduation trip… I currently hold a part-time research position, and I can easily see how I could transfer my analytical and research skills from academia to yoga.
I’m a creative and adventurous person, which would help me in my role through creating initiatives with big impact and that are fun for all. Some of my ideas include extending merchandise to include activewear, booking exciting spaces for sessions (somewhere outdoors!), and having socials more regularly. All in all, I want the best for YMC, and I hope to contribute to that future through the role of Project Manager :)
Choosing to join Yoga Society this year has been an amazing decision. The club offers so many opportunities beyond the weekly classes, creating a welcoming and supportive community for everyone involved. I would love the opportunity to contribute more by being part of the team that helps organise events and continue building such a fun and inclusive society. As Project Manager, I’d be excited to help plan engaging activities and support initiatives (like next summers yoga retreat!), ensuring members have even more opportunities to get involved and connect.
