Miles Losonci Johnson

I have been a keen sportsperson all my life, and this year at UCL has reinforced how much team sports really mean to me (especially after a year without any). Stepping into the Water Polo club at UCL has been one of the most rewarding and meaningful parts of my university life so far, giving me time to retreat from academic and London life through pool time connecting with teammates and training sessions are genuinely highlights of my week. I know that I would be a good Mixed Captain because I know how much the club means to me and I want to be able to give that same experience to others.

At school, I was part of a water polo team that reached 3rd place in the ESSA National Finals, an experience that showed me what a team can achieve when organisation and genuine commitment to one another come together. As keeper, I am constantly reading the game, communicating with defenders, and staying composed under pressure, qualities I would carry directly into captaincy.

I am organised, dependable, quick to communicate, and thrive in collaborative environments, and as a competitive tennis player I understand the discipline required to perform consistently. Above all, I care about this team and want every member, regardless of level, to feel their contribution matters. I know how fortunate I am to be part of this squad, and that is exactly why I want to give something back as captain.

Thanks for your consideration!

I'm running for mixed captain because I'm passionate about waterpolo and want to focus on fleshing out our LUSL game. I'd focus on making mixed teams run better as a functional unit.
