Having been an active member of the society for the past two years, I have experienced first hand what makes our sessions enjoyable, inclusive and well run. I understand the balance needed between structure, competitiveness and fun and I’ve seen the impact that strong HEVOs have on engagement and longterm participation. This insight has given me a clear understanding of what makes a good HEVO and how to build on that foundation.
If elected, my priority would be to create welcoming and well-organised social sessions for both beginner and intermediate players. For beginners, this means supportive coaching and an environment where no one feels intimidated. For intermediate players, it means structured gameplay, opportunities to develop skills and sessions that remain challenging while still social. Alongside this, I would also look to improve the ticketing system to make sign ups more efficient and organised for all!
I would focus on consistency and communication: ensuring sessions start on time, equipment is organised and everyone knows what to expect each week. Creating these small improvements in structure can significantly enhance player experience and progression across ability levels. Most importantly, I want to foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels part of the society. By building on my two years of experience within the club, I am confident I can deliver engaging, organised and enjoyable sessions that strengthen both participation and community.
