I would like to run for the position of Vice President of the UN Women Society to ensure that women on campus have a strong platform through which they can support one another and foster an inclusive, empowering community.
My experience volunteering at Smart Works, a UK charity that supports women in securing employment, has given me the opportunity to work closely with disadvantaged women, listen to their stories, and understand the structural challenges they face. Studying Politics and Sociology has further deepened my awareness of the social and political pressures placed on female identity, strengthening my commitment to creating spaces for critical reflection and solidarity.
In this role, I hope to organise panel discussions with scholars and professionals who can share their experiences of overcoming such obstacles, offering both inspiration and practical insight to students. I would also like to continue organising regular check-in sessions and discussion events to ensure that the society remains a welcoming, supportive environment for all members and for any student who could benefit from the UN Women community at UCL.
