Having founded the society and served as President during its formative months, I understand the vision, structure, and responsibility this platform carries. I created it because I believed UCL needed a serious, action-oriented space dedicated to gender equality. If re-elected, I will transition UN Women UCL from an emerging society into a structured, measurable, high-impact organisation. I will prioritise meaningful partnerships with UK-based charities, structured fundraising initiatives, and tangible volunteering opportunities for our members. With the support of UN Women UK, I am committed to strengthening and expanding our collaboration as society grows.
I’m Daria, a second‑year Human Sciences student, and this year I’ve had the privilege of serving on the founding committee of the UN Women Society. Helping build the society from its very first steps has given me a clear understanding of what it takes to turn a mission into a community: consistent organisation, thoughtful planning, and leadership that listens. As Events Officer, I independently delivered our first events, shaped our annual vision with the committee, and helped create outreach that brought like‑minded people together. This experience has shown me not only how to run successful events, but how to guide a team, maintain structure, and build momentum in a new society.
As President, I want to strengthen the foundations we’ve built and lead the society into its next stage of growth. I will focus on long‑term strategy, transparent teamwork, and expanding our presence through impactful campaigns and collaborations that reflect our values. I’m committed to creating a welcoming, safe, and empowering space where members feel heard and inspired to participate. I believe stability, dedication, and clear direction are essential at this moment, and I would be honoured to lead the society through a full term, helping it grow into a lasting and influential community at UCL.
