I believe I would be a strong candidate for the UCL Telugu Society Treasurer role because I am responsible, organised, and confident managing finances carefully and transparently. I understand the importance of accountability when handling society funds, especially when planning cultural events that represent our community. I am comfortable working with budgets, tracking income and expenditure accurately, and ensuring funds are allocated efficiently to maximise the impact of events for members. I am also proactive and communicative, meaning I would keep the committee updated on the society’s financial position and ensure all spending aligns with UCLSU guidelines. Most importantly, I am genuinely passionate about supporting and growing the Telugu community at UCL, and I would approach the Treasurer role with integrity, attention to detail, and dedication.
As part of my previous leadership roles, I have gained the experience of leading others and thus I constantly seek opportunities for leadership positions. I am a proactive and self-motivated individual and I enjoy taking charge to implement collective ideas. Through these roles, I demonstrated commitment by being organised and ensuring deadlines were met, alongside balancing my academic work. By being a trustworthy individual whom my peers can approach, and actively offering suggestions at school council sessions, I showcased my communication skills with people of all ages. I pride myself on being hardworking and collaborative to bring out the potential of others.
As Marketing Director for my team in Young Enterprise, I successfully inspired a sub-team to boost efficiency and promote a healthy working environment, leading to us winning Best Team in London and participating in the UK National Finals. As School House Captain and leading Youth Volunteers at my local temple, I developed my interpersonal skills as well as a sense of being a well-rounded person. I am fuelled by the sense of belonging felt by immersing yourself, and I believe I thrive in a committee environment.
My culture is so integral to my identity and I feel passionately about bringing awareness to the richness of Telugu culture. Being Treasurer would enable me to be connected and rooted to this aspect of my identity; to share and learn about other people's experiences to enrich my understanding of our culture.
