Surgical Society: Treasurer

Hi everyone, I'm Rohan! I'm a 3rd medical student, and this year's Finance Director for INUGSC!

As Finance Director, not only was it an incredible opportunity to be part of a community based on passion for surgery, but I particular enjoyed this role because of the team diversity involved. Dealing with the finances rendered me liaising with members across the different departments within the sub-committee, and it was amazing to witness the diligence and hard work being put in by everybody, which is what sparked my interesting in applying for Treasurer for the next academic year!

As Finance Director, I was able to:

• Raise £2,450 in sponsorship money from leading medical & surgical organisations
• Initiate future long term relationships with organisations, regarding exclusive benefits for all members of the surgical society
• Develop negotiation, organisational and budgeting skills when communicating with sponsors

I believe all these skills I have gained are necessary for the role of Treasurer, and it would be a privilege to carry them on within that larger capacity. 

As Treasurer, I look forward to:

• Securing the long term relationships initiated during my term in INUGSC
• Partnering with companies on a financial basis, to build up a pool of sponsors for the various events throughout the year
• Ensuring members get the most value possible out of their membership
