Hi everyone, my name is Gab, and I am excited to be running for the position of events officer for UCL Surgical Society!
Surgery is built on innovation, resilience, teamwork and preparation - and I want our events to reflect exactly that.
Currently, I run talks with UCL Next Top Doctor to inspire prospective medical applicants, and I am helping to facilitate workshops at the iNUGSC widening participation conference. As Social Secretary of Filipino Society, I have organised large-scale events with over 300 attendees, such as a boat party and an inter-uni Valentine's Day event. These experiences have strengthened my teamwork and organisational skills.
I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in events such as iNUGSC, the General Surgery Spectrum and the Sub-specialties Fair. They've reinforced my passion for surgery, and I would like to continue to inspire the future generations of surgeons through similar events. As Events Officer, with my new ideas, I will deliver high-quality, well-organised events, creating an environment that allows aspiring surgeons to feel welcome and supported - introducing new opportunities such as mentorship programmes and interactive workshops. I want every member, whether certain about surgery or just exploring, to feel welcome and supported.
