Hi my name is Aaqil and I am standing to be your next Clinical Education Chair!
I want to build on the strong foundation already in place and deliver teaching that is practical, structured, and useful for Years 4–6. My aim is to make surgical learning more accessible, consistent, and confidence-building across the clinical years.
Experience:
- Pre-Clinical Education Chair, Radiology Society (24/25)
- Radiology Vice-chair, Radiology Society (25/26)
- Academic officer, RAM (23/24)
Building on our predecessor’s work, my goals are –
Teach & Support:
- Strengthen the Clinical Mentorship Programme to ensure students receive consistent, high-quality teaching during surgical placements.
- Deliver junior doctor-led tutorials (FY1/2s, CSTs) for Years 4–6, learning from those who recently navigated the MLA and are preparing for MRCS.
- Run OSCE-focused sessions with case discussions, exam technique, and clinical reasoning to build confidence in surgical stations.
Skills & Confidence:
- Introduce sessions on theatre etiquette, assisting, and common surgical ward jobs so students feel prepared in clinical environments.
- Deliver ultrasound and practical skills sessions to build confidence on placement and in theatre.
- Work with the Pre-Clinical Education team to develop a surgeon directory supporting theatre shadowing.
I believe clinical education should help students pass exams and feel confident on wards and in theatre. I would be honoured to help shape that experience for UCL students.
