Over the past few years, I've had the privilege of growing my experience in cardiothoracics, both as Regional Lead for the Cardiothoracic Surgeons Society and Research Lead for the International Conference for Future Cardiothoracic Surgeons. These roles have given me a strong foundation in the specialty, but more importantly, a drive to make a meaningful impact.
As Secretary of the UCL Surgical Society and Conference Lead for the British Undergraduate Cardiovascular Association, I’ve had the chance to work closely with both driven students and world-class professionals. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a clear vision for how we can elevate this subcommittee.
If elected, my focus will be on:
- Reclaiming Y1 C&B Tutorials: Mastering the basics is non-negotiable. I’ll ensure we deliver these fundamental physiology and anatomy concepts with unmatched clarity.
- Hands-on Wet Lab Workshops: Providing novel, realistic and high-fidelity training with expert guidance to help build real-world surgical skills and confidence.
- Mentorship and Networking: Creating and signposting regular opportunities for students to engage with surgeons and researchers, helping them broaden their perspectives and receive guidance on their journeys.
This specialty is notoriously competitive, but I am keen to turn that challenge into our greatest strength - empowering every member to not just compete, but to mentor and elevate each other to excel and lead.
