I joined stage crew this year as a third year astrophysicist to find something else to prioritise over my degree. From day one I met the loveliest people and had so much fun helping with get ins and get outs, and I’d love to be on the committee in my final year to give a little something back to the society.
As Externals Officer, I will be so committed and dedicated to making sure every external is well organised and goes smoothly. I’m always running around campus anyway so I’m already well suited to running around for externals. I’ve helped with a few since joining and have gotten to know how they work really well so I’m confident I could take charge.
I also love how they’re such a great opportunity to learn so many of the skills stage crew offers so I’d be excellent and making sure they’re a good environment to do so. As someone who joined the society very late into uni, externals have definitely been the perfect starting point for me to get used to the ins and outs of different types of shows.
I’m also the current Events Coordinator for Salsa Society, I’ve gotten very used to dashing about to find last minute solutions for unwarranted problems and to plan accordingly, so I’d be the perfect choice for Externals Officer now.
If you want organisation, commitment and someone who loves the spontaneity of external shows, I’m the perfect Externals Officer for you!!
Stage crew has been the highlight of my academic year and I'd love to do more for the society. And what better way to contribute than to nominate myself for the role of externals officer?
My first time participating in stage crew society was during the external Anisoc gig in Mully's in my first year. I helped set up the mics, operated lighting and gained new friends. I loved how casual the atmosphere was and how forgiving of mistakes externals are (cough). Other than how low-pressure it is, I also love how externals enable us to have diversity in the shows we tech by collaborating with a huge range of societies. Since then I've been helping tech shows in Mully's and other venues, including drag soc and MT soc, and will definitely be doing more (artsUCL fringe let's go!!)
I've worked in all theatre departments and have been on 10+ shows this year. My knowledge enables me to be flexible and aid any department if they need hands (very likely). I've also had two lead crew roles so far (Richard II, MNight) and I am familiar with production and crewing processes.
One thing I'd like to do as externals officer is to make the externals calendar public and announce any updates in chat as early as possible so members can choose which interests them and which to devote their precious time to.
I hope to continue the fantastic work of my ancient predecessors (:p) and make sure everyone has fun!!!
I have been a part of Stage Crew at UCL since first year and I would love to step into a leadership role and be an Externals Officer for 2026/27. Although I don't have as much experience with externals as I do in the Blooms, I would be delighted to go all in and gain more experience to help keep externals running smoothly.
What I will bring to the role:
- 2 years’ worth of stage crew experience at UCL in lead roles
- Hard work and dedication – I’m always willing to put in the work to get a job done well
- Management and organisational skills – I have taken on multiple lead roles over the last 2 years and am confident in organising and leading a crew successfully
- Strong communication skills – I'm ready to organise, email and set up meetings like my life depends on it to ensure everyone is informed and prepared to put on the best show possible.
I would love to play a part in Stage Crew committee next year, and I believe I can help make our externals as successful and enjoyable as possible, so please vote for me for Externals Officer!
