Sri Lankan Society: Events Officer

As the events officer, my main goal would be to foster a genuine sense of belonging among fellow Sri Lankan students at UCL. I understand the importance of finding community within a university - particularly as an international student - and how events can serve as a pivotal way to do so. Thus, I intend to diversify the types of events the society provides to ensure Sri Lankans of all backgrounds and interests can be included. Events would not simply be social gatherings, but a way for all Sri Lankan students to celebrate their culture and truly connect with one another. Having been part of the Interact Club of Colombo and other non-profit organisations such as the Second Innings Foundation, I believe I've honed the organizational and teamwork skills needed to plan and execute successful events. I intend to bring the same level of dedication to the Sri Lankan society's events, from larger inter-university celebrations to smaller gatherings. Above all, however, my goal is to use these events to remind students that no matter what, they will always have a community of fellow Sri Lankans to support them.
