Squash Club: Social Secretary

Hi everyone! My name is Joanna and I study Natural Sciences.

I stumbled into the squash society this year by accident, but I’m so happy I have because I’ve found an amazing sport, and a wonderful group of people who balance competitiveness with fun and friendliness. I’m standing for Social Secretary because I’d love to support this community further and help maintain the off-court spaces where we can get to know each other.

I have past experience organising team sport events during school- whether a bowling night, group dinner or helping organise a trip to a fixture away. I understand the importance of being able to work within a budget, plan, book, communicate to as many people as possible and make sure costs are as cheap as they can be. These skills translate directly into what a Social Secretary needs: organisation, reliability, and a passion for keeping the society active.

Next year, I would love the opportunity to bring back events like Christmas party, summer picnic and the inter-university squash ball, along with some more regular pub sessions and board game socials. 

I hope to make our club more connected, more welcoming, and more fun. I hope you’ll consider voting for me!
