Election post
I have been a member of the UCL Men's Rugby Club for almost 2 years, as well as one of the Sports Reps this year.
As a Sports Rep, I have liaised with sports clubs and TeamUCL to improve the day to day operations of the community. This role has allowed me to talk to so many valued members of the TeamUCL community, and has opened my eyes to what it needs.
Additionally, I have an extensive knowledge of the Students' Union and how they operate both through my role as a Sports Rep, but also as a Cheese Grater journalist. This means I can effectively push policies and hold the SU to account.
- Improve quality of life for sports clubs: I would want to offer greater guidance for Presidents and Treasurers on the reimbursements system as well as a review of the system itself, improvement of storage and training facilities, and generally greater communication between clubs and the SU.
- Expand social leagues and Project Active: The social leagues and Project Active have been great in engaging people who don't usually play sports. I would look to expand this for more people and more sports.
- Recognition of success: Greater communication from TeamUCL highlighting success and achievements.
I have dedicated a significant amount of my time as a UCL student to standing up for the student community. As a lifelong rugby player and a fan of many sports, I believe sports can be one of the best ways to unite people. Sports at UCL has so much potential, and I will push the Union to ensure that the voices of clubs and athletes are heard by the powers that be, so that we can further unlock the full potential of sports at this university. I believe I have an extreme unique set of skills and experiences which allows me to effectively push policies in what can be an extremely bureaucratic SU.
I truly could not care less. What I do care about is delivering tangible, real improvement NOW for sports clubs and athletes.
