I'm standing for Social Media Officer because I want to make our social media presence and posts that much more vibrant and exciting. I aim to create real momentum around our events and make our platforms an engaging space.
As someone who spends a lot of time online I believe I have a good grasp on the kinds of content people want to see, so the opportunity to cater to that is one I would make sure to take seriously. I'd love to be able to experiment with current trends, short form content, and visuals to really connect with people and gain a wider audience. With a stronger and more cohesive look we can build a recognisable and identifiable brand that feels intentional and stands out.
Community and representation are really important to me, so I would like our content to be proudly reflective of our community as well as being open and welcome to all, stimulating increased connection. My goals are to increase engagement and make Somali Society shine online.

I am applying for the role of Social Media Officer because I understand the importance of a strong digital presence in driving engagement and visibility. Even before becoming a member, I made a conscious effort to search for the society online, which highlighted how important accessible and active platforms are for attracting and informing students.
As Vice President of my former school’s Multicultural Society, one of my key responsibilities was overseeing social media. I helped manage content, promote events and ensure consistent communication with members. I am organised, proactive and supportive, and I would bring that same structure and reliability to this role.
