Somali Society: Charity Officer

I would like to nominate myself for the charity position at Somsoc because I am deeply passionate about diasporic somali communities and giving back to our homeland. As a second generation somali, I believe it is important we stay connected to our culture and people whether that is through language, charity or food. Through this role, I would encourage members of the society to engage more actively in causes that directly benefit somali communities, both locally and abroad. 

I have worked with ASMA community charity, an organisation dedicated to support East African Communities, where I led community events and outreach mentoring, supporting young somali children, both academically and personally.
