Dear Snowsports, as someone who’s attended more socials than I can count (even if I don’t remember all of them) I'd love to be your Social Sec!

Just like I did this year, I want next year’s freshers to embrace the fun in wandering around London dressed like complete freaks, chunder-dragons and shoeys or even waking up with half an eyebrow missing. I’ve also learned many life lessons through Snowsports, in particular that it’s far wiser to send it down the MK slope than staircases; and while I still haven’t learned to 360 at least my worm's lateral separation has seen significant improvement.

But something I truly value about Snowsports is how it encourages us to step out of our comfort zones, whether that’s our skiing, drinking or socialising abilities. I’ve loved seeing people initially join with a social membership and end up tackling their first ski runs - something that happens because strong socials can bring people in.

I also understand that great socials don’t just happen, they take organisation, communication and collaboration. I’d put real effort into ensuring plans are shared well in advance and I’d work closely with the Social Media Sec to showcase many (but definitely not all) our antics. From racers to complete beginners, (or worse, snowboarders...) Wednesdays bring us together and I’ve loved playing a part in uniting freshers through Ramsay pres. That’s why I want to help create more of those moments with you and encourage even more shenanigans next year.

As Fresher Rep this year, it has been a privilege to work with Committee & Freshers alike. I have made countless memories and great mates already, so thank you Snowsports!

My attendance to all things Snowsports is a testament to my commitment to this society - whether that’s socials, ski trainings or competitions. I always try to rally the troops for events and weekly Ramsay pres! I live by ‘work hard-play hard’, though I fear my version of this tips towards ‘play hard’ (though I somehow made my 9am after my infamous curry night performance). I’m the last one to leave Scala, because I would always rather go to Scala than to bed.

I would love to come up with inventive Wednesday socials that appeal to our wide range of members and attract new freshers & returners, along with events with other UCL and Uni Snowsports societies. The only thing better than getting hammered, is getting hammered in costume - I meant business from the moment I arrived at UCL with a giant dressing up collection.

I am aware that with this role, comes great responsibly. The behind-the-scenes planning and close collaboration between Social Secs & Committee is key for enthusiasm, participation and clear communication to all members. I’ve also welfared many a time, which I hope is a testament to the trust I have gained and my ability to strike a balance between being suitably drunk but not completely plastered.

To many more shoeys, worms and beer miles next year - hopefully as one of your Social Sec's :))

I would like to be social sec for the infamous UCL snow sports society for a vast plethora of reasons: firstly due to circumstances out of my control ( being awesome) i shall be repeating my first year. While this may sound like a problem in reality this is my strength. Repeating first year will allow me to focus on my main priorty as a social sec ( having my way with kareem).

As a social sec my main focus would be on improving social organisations and themes and bringing in the correct amount of rowdiness to snow sports. The most important aspect however of being a social sec is communication and cooperation with your fellow social sec and i will make it my life mission to achieve this goal ( i could to apples about oranges)

i like to believe i have shown a good amount of dedication to snow sports this year - thought not in training i always attempt to make up for this at the socials.

while we all enjoy getting it wrong at a snow sports social - notable mentions; the toga incident and the monster rave, which as some of you may know has earned me an unofficial committee role this year giving me a degree of experience in this field.

If anointed with the honour of social sec they would have to make me start paying rent at scala, in addition to this i would like to increase the intensity of the socials, while retaining the chilled snow sports vibe we all know and love.

p.s your social sec shouldn’t have to be carried to bed on trip - but i promise ill get on well with her

love you xx
