I am standing for Welfare Officer as I believe that Shakespeare Society should be a place where people feel supported and safe within a welcoming and passionate community. It can sometimes feel intimidating to get involved in the productions or various opportunities available throughout the year, but I want to ensure that everybody feels like being an active part of this society is exciting and inviting to all!

Being involved in this year's Blooms Shakespeare production, I had the chance to feel part of a wonderful community which I think everyone should have the chance to experience. This society brings together a variety of people with different interests and levels of experience into a determined, collaborative, and sometimes intense environment where open communication and compassion for each other is essential. By taking on the role of Welfare Officer, I want to ensure that the Shakespeare Society community remains supportive and welcoming, making it a society that everyone wants to be a part of!

Whether it is simply for a casual chat, a discussion about an issue, or a need to talk to someone, I want everyone to feel like they can reach out to me about anything, no matter how big or small the topic is. As Welfare Officer, I will make it my priority to value everybody's voices equally, and treat them with the respect and attention they deserve.

Paula Sarbinska

Hello!

My name is Paula and I’m currently a 2nd year English student!
🌸I have been involved in many Shakesoc productions (Hamlet, Shakesoc Festival, Twelfth Night, As You Like It, Richard II). Being on the production and technical side of a show and having performed too gives me a good understanding of what each role requires for a show to go as smoothly as possible!
🌸As MT’s Head of Productions this year I gained experience working as a committee member and closely liaised with and supported core production teams.
🌸 I work as a summer camp counsellor and received training regarding how to handle conflicts and welfare concerns. Working as a camp counsellor taught me how to mitigate issues and tensions and handle more difficult topics.
🌸I am First-Aid trained!

As welfare officer, I intend to continue to support the society members to the best of my ability and ensure everyone feels welcome and safe! I would love to introduce welfare hours where members can come and chat to me.
