Joining UCL this year, I joined with trepidation as to what was next and how I would be able to find a group of friends that I could rely on. In my eyes the rugby club has done amazingly in helping me to do this and without it I do not know where I would be most of the time or who I would be with. Therefore, I believe that it is fair to say that my time at UCL has been largely shaped by my time at the rugby club and the solidarity and friendship that it has forged between myself and fellow first-years and beyond. Without such a social experience I doubt I would have become so confident and enriched in my university life. With this in mind, I would like to continue to shape and champion this aspect of the club for those that are going to join us in the new year and for those in their second and third year. In my opinion, it is the social secretaries that ensure a cohesive and inclusive club that continues to reach out to alumni and first years alike, truly making men's rugby feel like a family. I believe that in this role, given my previous experiences this year, I will be well-placed to ensure a good university rugby club experience for all. It is a role that I will take seriously and responsibly with those in the club at the front of my mind.
