Starting university at UCL this year has been a challenging yet fulfilling experience. For many of us, it is an exciting but also overwhelming time, especially when balancing assignments, social life and being away from home. Within a cultural society, that experience can feel even more personal, since it represents a piece of our identity. This is why I want to help ensure that our Romanian and Moldovan Society is not just a space for events, but a space where members feel comfortable and heard. Having moved to the UK from Romania years ago, I have experienced firsthand the challenges of finding a place where you belong and being able to adapt to new social environments. Because of this, I believe I am capable of handling situations if they arise and contributing ideas that promote well-being throughout the year.
As Welfare Officer, I believe it is essential to foster a positive and welcoming culture within our Romanian and Moldovan Society. Both Romania and Moldova are extremely diverse countries, encompassing a wide range of cultures and minorities, and it is important to acknowledge and celebrate that diversity. By encouraging open dialogue and listening to people's experiences, I hope to create a warm and supportive environment where everyone can build the meaningful connections they joined the society to find.
Ultimately, I am standing because I care about our community and want to help strengthen it in a thoughtful and supportive way.
