Punit Soni

I am excited to stand for the role of Marketing Director. I love bringing people together, and sharing the vibrancy of Punjabi culture, and I feel that with my skills, this role is the perfect way to do that.

I really enjoy turning ideas into content that can hopefully make people enthusiastic about attending PSOC events. I currently handle marketing for my local tennis club, which includes creating graphics and editing photos and videos. As a result, I am experienced in using editing software such as Photoshop and Premiere Pro as well as a variety of others. Through this experience, I have learned not only how to plan campaigns and balance deadlines, but also how to make content that looks good and also gets people excited to participate.

As someone who is chronically online, I am very tuned into current trends and know how to create content that catches attention, whilst staying true to the fun, lively spirit of the society. Furthermore, I am organised, reliable, and love working as a team to create campaigns effectively. I would be thrilled to bring my ideas and creativity to a society and culture that I am proud to be part of, by helping to create campaigns that are impossible to ignore.

My candidacy for Marketing Director is driven by a proven ability to turn digital engagement into a vibrant community presence. As First Year Representative, I led the social media strategy for the London Lohri Ball, generating over 90,000 impressions in one week. I learned to leverage high-impact visuals and strategic timing to amplify our society's voice and represent our heritage with the vibrancy it deserves.

I bring a diverse toolkit of marketing skills extending beyond university societies. At MentorWise, I spearheaded efforts that navigated algorithms to achieve 70,000+ views, capturing attention in a crowded digital landscape. My work for Silk v Brief and as a Student Ambassador for Sikhs in Law has honed my ability to balance professional polish with cultural authenticity, ensuring our communications are as sophisticated as they are engaging.

As Head of School, I managed events for 1,000 participants; this, plus being a two-time Diana Award winner, gives me the strategic grit to lead our public image with creativity and scale. As Marketing Director, I will curate a narrative that celebrates Punjabi heritage while pushing digital boundaries. My data-driven strategy and creative flair will ensure the Punjabi Society remains the most visible, inclusive, and influential community at UCL.
