Sofia Chiaramitara

Hi, I’m Sofia and I’m running for Event Coordinator.

I’m a first-year Psych with Education student, and I genuinely love being organised (my colour-coded calendar can confirm that). I enjoy planning, coordinating and working with others to bring ideas to life. I want to continue organising the events we already love such as professor panels, pizza and movie nights, museum trips, and of course, the annual ball. But I would also love to introduce new ideas that help us connect socially while growing academically. I’d enjoy organising debate nights, career workshops, and relaxed discussion spaces about topics that matter to us as students.

So, why me? I’m a strong team worker, proactive and reliable, and I know planning events takes communication and collaboration. I’ll make sure timings and accessibility are carefully considered so as many people as possible can participate. Most importantly, I’ll always be open to suggestions. This society is for all of us, and our events should reflect that.

If you’d like someone organised, approachable, and excited about planning meaningful (and fun) events, I’d really appreciate your vote!

My experiences in PES not only broadened my academic perspective but also provided me with a wonderful sense of community here at UCL. All of this is thanks to my conscientious and responsible colleagues at PES. I have been deeply inspired and motivated to step up and take on a more active role. I want to bring that same level of passion and behind-the-scenes dedication to society, ensuring we continue to deliver memorable and impactful experiences for all our members.

As a fellow student, I deeply understand the uncertainty many of us feel regarding our future paths. Because of this, my vision as the event coordinator includes organizing more events like panels or career fairs to boost our members' career insights, helping to demystify the professional world of psychology and education. Additionally, I want to bring together students from different year groups, allowing older students to share their invaluable advice with newcomers, helping them integrate into the course more quickly and effectively. Alongside career and study support, I am committed to planning engaging, leisure-focused events themed around our subjects, giving us a space to unwind in a relaxed environment.

I am eager to invest my time and organizational skills into planning events that benefit our academic perspectives and also foster a deeply inclusive, welcoming environment where students from all backgrounds can connect, collaborate, and thrive together.
