Over the past year, I have taken on the role of Events Executive for the Population Health Sciences Society. During this time, I worked closely with our President James and the rest of the committee to organise several events, including the AI and Health forum, which brought together more than 200 attendees. These events would not have been possible without the effort and support of the whole committee team.
Through organising these events, I have gained a much clearer understanding of what our society can offer to students in Population Health Sciences. Beyond the events themselves, we also tried to follow up afterwards and think about how the society could become a more meaningful platform for students to share ideas and connect with each other.
This leadership race will be my final opportunity to contribute to the society during my time at university, which is why I decided to stand for President. If elected, I would like to focus on improving areas where the society can do better, listening more closely to members’ suggestions, and organising more engaging in-person activities that bring people together.
I also hope to continue developing events that connect topics like AI, health, and public health research, while creating more opportunities for students to meet, discuss ideas, and build connections within the community.
As a first-year Population Health Science student, this course has become more than a degree — it’s where I’ve found teamwork, connection, and a true sense of belonging. As President, I’ll make sure every voice is heard, ideas are welcomed, and members feel part of something bigger, with engaging socials, academic support, career advice, and opportunities for everyone.
