Kavin Jayaprakash

It is no secret that Political Risk & Intelligence Society has been highly inactive for several months.

After being elected as FYR, I was eager to work with the society's talented leadership to explore my interest in geopolitics. Alas, the committee has been plagued with radio silence for much of its existence. A fresh outlook is needed to breathe life back into the UCL PRIS.

My proposal consists of the following:

  • Speaker & career events with industry insiders, e.g. OSINT/SOMINT, cybersecurity, geopolitical consulting, former intelligence personnel, etc.
  • Refocus the substance on geopolitics and intelligence. There are plenty of societies that overlap with political economy, but not enough that focus on this compelling niche.
  • Cross-society and cross-university collaboration.
  • Weekly geopolitical discussion sessions, where a welcoming and stimulating environment will be fostered.

You should vote for me for the following reasons:

  • I have a serious passion for geopolitics.
  • Building a free and open environment is essential to me.
  • My track record as a resilient and collaborative leader is storied.
    • Student Vice-President & Charity Events Director at sixth form.
    • LYDF Deputy Committee Director.
  • As an incoming second-year, I will have time to actually run the society.

It would be a loss to see the society fade into the abyss, when it could provide an invaluable resource for those interested in geopolitics and intelligence. Vote for me to ensure that UCL PRIS will return anew.
