Hi! My name is Joel.
I've been a regular attending member of Pokésoc since I joined UCL in September 2025, and I've really enjoyed meeting so many warm, like-minded people in the short time I've been here. I'm applying for treasurer because I wanted to support this society and enable it to host more fun socials, but (perhaps more fittingly) I would be able to use my expertise in managing funds. I have experience with running fundraisers and paid events so I believe I would be a good fit for this role. I like to keep tight records of my own transactions so I can budget effectively, and I plan to use that same strategy with Pokésoc funds if I am elected. With that in mind, I appreciate that Pokésoc is a society that shouldn't be expensive for its members and, if elected as treasurer, I want to make sure it remains this way to continue to be inclusive.
Being both a Prefect and a House Captain in my previous school gave me plenty of experience in event organisation; I was frequently the one to write up and submit documents to hold events as well as considering the relevant risk assessments. These opportunities also helped me develop my leadership abilities, such as being able to coordinate meetings and organise people effectively to ensure things go smoothly. I pride myself on being someone who is reliable and timely with deadlines, so if I am elected as treasurer, I would ensure that Pokésoc events run consistently.
I look forward to (possibly) working with next year's committee :)
Hi! I’m Zaina, a first year Biomedical Engineering student, you may know me as the girl who really likes Chikorita.
I’m running for Pokésoc Treasurer because I’m so grateful for the friends I’ve made coming to these socials, and I want to represent this society going forward. I joined Pokésoc because I’ve loved Pokémon ever since I played Heartgold as a kid, and finding other people who enjoy being goofy and having fun in the world of Pokémon at uni has been one of my favourite parts of UCL.
As a student with graphic design experience, I would be hands on in designing merch for the society, and promise to keep good track of finances to keep the amazing socials coming. I’m always in and out of the lab so I'm no stranger to write-ups and paperwork, and I strive to be someone you know you can rely on to get the job done! Pokésoc has been such a cornerstone of my uni experience, and I hope to keep it just as fun and welcoming for other students to come. I hope you’ll vote for me as Pokésoc Treasurer, because I would be honoured to represent MewCL, and have a chance to contribute to such an amazing group of people.
